BILL
TO
Disqualify for membership of the House of Commons any person who holds
the office of Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, Deputy Chief Whip,
Government Whip, Assistant Government Whip, Chief Opposition Whip or
Assistant Opposition Whip; and for connected purposes.
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
(1) The House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975 is amended as follows.
(2)
In section 1(1) (disqualification of certain offices and places), after paragraph
(f) add—
“(g)
5holds the office of Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury,
Deputy Chief Whip, Government Whip, Assistant Government
Whip, Chief Opposition Whip or Assistant Opposition Whip.”

The Secretary of State may make by regulations such consequential, saving,
10transitional or transitory provision as he considers appropriate.
(2)
Regulations made under subsection (1) shall be made by statutory instrument
and shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House
of Parliament.

15This Act may be cited as the House of Commons Disqualification
(Amendment) Act 2011.
(2)
This Act comes into force on the day of the appointment of the House of
Commons Business Committee.
(3) This Act extends to the whole of the United Kingdom.
