Low Hazard Workplaces (Risk Assessment Exemption) Bill (HC Bill 87)




Exempt employers from the requirement to produce a written risk assessment
in respect of low hazard workplaces and the premises of those working from
their own home with low hazard equipment.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Exemption from risk assessment

No business or organisation or other employer shall be required to carry out a
written risk assessment in respect of any employee working from home in a
low-hazard environment.

2 5Interpretation

In this Act “low-hazard workplaces” includes private residential
accommodation, offices, shops and classrooms.

3 Short title, commencement and extent

(1) This Act may be cited as the Low Hazard Workplaces (Risk Assessment
10Exemption) Act 2011.

(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it is passed.

(3) This Act extends to England and Wales, and Scotland.
