Remove any distinction between the sexes in determining the succession to
the Crown.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Succession to the Crown

(1) In determining the line of succession to the Crown and to all rights, privileges
and dignities belonging thereto no account shall be taken of gender,
notwithstanding any previous custom or rule of law to the contrary.

(2) 5This section is subject to the Act of Settlement 1700.

2 Short title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Succession to the Crown Act 2011.

(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it is passed.

(3) This Act does not affect any succession to the Crown before the day on which
10this Act comes into force.
