Require water companies to provide the cheapest available tariff to customers
aged 75 or over; and for connected purposes.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Notification of cheapest tariff

(1) A company supplying water or sewerage services to a domestic customer shall,
at least annually, inform the customer of the cheapest tariff available to that
customer (based on that customer’s current method of payment) and, on
5request, move the customer to that tariff if that customer is aged 75 or over.

(2) A customer may inform the water company that he qualifies for the cheapest
tariff available by being over the age of 75.

(3) A company need not send the customer the information required under
subsection (1) if—

(a) 10the company is aware that the customer is under 75 years of age; or

(b) the customer has informed the company that he or she does not require
the information to be sent.

2 Short title, commencement and extent

(1) This Act may be cited as the Water Companies (Minimum Tariffs) Act 2013.

(2) 15This Act shall come into force on the expiration of two months beginning on
the day on which it is passed.

(3) This Act extends to England and Wales.
