European Union Act 2011 (Amendment) Bill (HC Bill 53)

TO
Apply the terms of the European Union Act 2011 such as to require approval
by Act of Parliament and by referendum of provisions for creating a fiscal
union or economic governance within the Eurozone.
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Provisions requiring approval by Act and by referendum
(1)
A treaty, European Council decision or other legal instrument of the European
Union which provides for the creation of a fiscal union or economic
governance within the Eurozone shall require approval by Act of Parliament
5and fulfilment of the referendum condition as set out in section 2(2) or 3(2) or
6(4), as the case may be, of the European Union Act 2011.
(2)
Sections 11 to 13 of the European Union Act 2011 shall apply to a referendum
held in pursuance of subsection (1) above.
2 Financial provisions
10There is to be paid out of money provided by Parliament any increase attributable to
this Act in the sums payable under any Act out of money so provided.
3 Short title
This Act may be cited as the European Union Act 2011 (Amendment) Act 2012.
