Margaret Thatcher Day Bill (HC Bill 48)

Make provision that the annual Bank Holiday Monday in late August be
known as Margaret Thatcher Day.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Amendment of the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971

(1) The Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 is amended as follows.

(2) In Schedule 1, in paragraphs 1 and 3, after “the last Monday in August” there
is inserted “, Margaret Thatcher Day”.

2 5Short title, commencement and extent

(1) This Act may be cited as the Margaret Thatcher Day Act 2013.

(2) This Act comes into force on 1 January 2014.

(3) This Act extends to England and Wales and Northern Ireland.
