Gangmasters Licensing Authority (Extension of Powers) Bill (HC Bill 78)

Extend the powers of the Gangmasters Licensing Authority to enable it to
regulate employment agencies in all sectors of the economy; and for connected
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Amendment of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004
(1) The Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 is amended as follows.
(2) After section 1(2)(e) there is inserted—
“(ea)
to review the scope of work set out in section 3 of this Act (Work
5to which this Act applies) and make recommendations to the
Secretary of State on the inclusion of work in other sectors of the
economy.”
(3) At the end of section 3(5) there is inserted—
“(c)
including work in sectors of the economy other than that set out
10in subsection 3(1), including but not limited to sectors which are
the subject of recommendations under subsection 1(2)(ea).”
2 Short title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (Extension of
Powers) Act 2014.

15This Act comes into force at the end of a period six months after the date of
Royal Assent.
