| | The Health Service Commissioner shall make available to anyone considering |

| | making a complaint, an estimate of the period within which investigations are to |
|
| | |

| | The Health Service Commissioner shall make available to the complainant, at the |
|
| | outset of an investigation, an estimate of the period within which the investigation |
|
| | is likely to be completed.” |

| | | “Statutory duty of the Health Service Ombudsman |
|
| | It shall be a statutory duty of the Health Service Ombudsman to resolve any |
|
| | complaints within twelve months of the date when the complaint was received” |

| Clause 1, page 1, line 7, after “Commissioner” insert “before the end of that |
|

| Clause 1, page 1, line 8, at end insert “together with an estimate of the target date |
|
| for completion of the investigation.” |

| | “(b) | The Commissioner shall subsequently keep the complainant informed, as far as |

| | reasonably practicable, as to the progress of the investigation.” |

| | “( ) | If the reason for the delay specified in Section 2HA is lack of financial resources |

| | it shall be the duty of the Commissioner to set out the action which is being taken |

| | to remedy that lack of financial resource”. |
