Provide that the Secretary of State’s powers in relation to the management of
the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, include the power to grant a lease in respect
of land for a period of up to 150 years.
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Power to grant a lease in respect of land at Kew Gardens
(1)
The Secretary of State’s powers in relation to the management of the Royal
Botanic Gardens, Kew, include the power to grant a lease in respect of land for
a period of up to 150 years.
(2) 5Section 5 of the Crown Lands Act 1702 does not apply in respect of such a lease.
2 Extent, commencement and short title
(1) This Act extends to England and Wales.
(2)
It comes into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the
day on which it is passed.
(3) 10It may be cited as the Kew Gardens (Leases) Act 2018.
