Sections 2, 3 and 4(3) shall have effect only until the first meeting of the new

 

Parliament after the next parliamentary general election, but that

 

Parliament or any subsequent Parliament may bring those sections back

 

into force for the Parliament’s own duration and until the first meeting of

 

the following Parliament if a resolution to that effect is approved by each

 

House of the Parliament in question.”

COMMONS DISAGREEMENT AND REASON

 

The Commons disagree to Lords Amendments Nos. 1, 2 and 9 for the following Reason—

9A

Because the Commons do not consider it appropriate that the continuing operation of the

 

provisions of the Bill should be dependent upon periodic resolutions of each House of

 

Parliament.

Lord Wallace of Tankerness to move, That this House do not insist on

 

its Amendments 1, 2 and 9 to which the Commons have disagreed for

 

their Reason 9A.

Lord Butler of Brockwell to move, as an amendment to Motion A, leave out from

 

“House” to end and insert “do insist on its Amendments 1, 2 and 9”.
