“( )     If the person referred to in subsections (1) and (2) is deceased, the
complaint may be made or maintained by his or her next of kin, or
personal representative.”

“( )     If the family of a person who has died during the course of his or
her service thinks that his or her relative or partner was wronged in
any matter relating to his or her service, the family may make a
complaint about the matter.”

“( )   for a service complaint against a member of the Royal
Military Police to be made to an officer of a specified
description;”

“( )     The Ombudsman may, after advising the Secretary of State,
investigate any matter deemed to be in the public interest on—

(a)   any aspect of the system mentioned in section 340O(2)(a);

(b)   any matter relating to the Ombudsman’s functions under
this Part;

and make a report to the Secretary of State.”

“( )     The Ombudsman—

(a)   shall investigate any matter referred to the Ombudsman by
written direction of the Defence Council; and

(b)   may, in compelling circumstances, on the Ombudsman’s
own motion after advising the Defence Council, carry out an
investigation of any allegations of systemic abuse or
injustice if it appears to him or her to be in the public
interest.”
