TO
Amend the Abortion Act 1967 to make provision for the termination of
pregnancy following certification by one registered medical practitioner.
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
In section 1(1) and (4) of the Abortion Act 1967 (medical termination of
pregnancy), for “two registered medical practitioners” there is substituted “one
medical practitioner”.
(1) This Act extends to England and Wales and Scotland.
(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it has passed.
(3) This Act may be cited as the Abortion Act 1967 (Amendment) Act 2014.
