Amend the International Development (Official Development Assistance
Target) Act 2015 in order to provide for a five year reporting period instead of
an annual reporting period.
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
(1)
The International Development (Official Development Assistance Target) Act
2015 is amended as follows, in order to provide for a five year reporting period
instead of an annual reporting period.
(2) 5In section 1—
(a)
in subsection (1), for “in the year 2015 and each subsequent calendar
year” substitute “over the period 2017/18 to 2021/22 and each
subsequent five year period”;
(b) in subsection (2)—
(i) 10for the first “year” substitute “five year period”; and
(ii) for “year in an annual” substitute “five year period in a”; and
(c) in subsection (3)—
(i)
omit ““annual report” means an annual report under section 1
of the 2006 Act”; and
(ii)
15insert ““the period 2017/18 to 2021/22” means the five year
period running from the start of the 2017/18 financial year until
the end of the 2021/22 financial year, and each subsequent five
year period is to be calculated accordingly”.
(3) In section 2—
(a) 20in subsection (1)—
(i) for “an annual” substitute “a”;
(ii)
for “in the year 2016 or any subsequent calendar year”
substitute “at the end of the first five year period or at the end
of any subsequent five year period”; and

(iii) for the third “year” substitute “period”;
(b) in subsection (2)—
(i) for “an annual” substitute “a”;
(ii) omit “in the year 2015 or any subsequent calendar year”;
(iii) 5for the third “year” substitute “period”;
(iv)
in paragraph (a), for “under section 1(4) of the 2006 Act by a
subsequent annual” substitute “by a subsequent”; and
(v) in paragraph (b), for “year” substitute “period”;
(c) in subsection (3), for “year” substitute “period”;
(d)
10in subsection (4), for “calendar year following the report year”
substitute “following five year period”; and
(e) omit subsection (5).
(4) In section 5(2), for “annual” substitute “five year”.
(1) 15This Act extends to the whole of the United Kingdom.
(2) This section comes into force on the day on which this Act is passed.
(3) Section 1 comes into force on 1 October 2016.
