Amend the Equality Act 2010 to improve step-free access to public buildings
for wheelchair users.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Amendment to the Equality Act 2010

(1) The Equality Act 2010 is amended as follows.

(2) In section 22 (regulations), after subsection (2) insert—

(2A) The Secretary of State must make regulations specifying the
5circumstances in which it is reasonable for a person of a prescribed
description to have to install a ramp suitable for wheelchair access.”

(3) In section 207(1), after “power” insert “or duty”.

2 Extent, commencement and short title

(1) This Act extends to England and Wales and Scotland.

(2) 10This Act comes into force at the end of the period of 2 months beginning with
the day on which this Act is passed, subject to subsection (3).

(3) This section comes into force on the day on which this Act is passed.

(4) This Act may be cited as the Equality Act 2010 (Amendment) Act 2015.
