Explanatory Notes

Commencement

242 Clause 26(1) provides for Clause 20 (terrorism reinsurance), the general provisions in clauses 22(2) to (7), 25, 26 and 27 (consequential amendments, extent, commencement and short title) and paragraph 19 of Schedule 4 to come into force on Royal Assent.

243 Clause 26(3) provides for the following provisions to come into force two months after Royal Assent:

Clauses 1 to 6 (terrorist offences);

Clauses 7 to 14 and Schedule 1 (punishment and management of terrorist offenders);

Clause 15 (traffic regulation);

Clause 19 (persons vulnerable to being drawn into terrorism);

Clauses 23 and 24, Parts 1, 2 and 4 of Schedule 4 and paragraph 27 of Part 3 of Schedule 4 (transitional provisions and minor and consequential amendments).

244 The remaining provisions will be brought into force by commencement regulations made by the Secretary of State (Clause 26(2)).
