Bills and Acts of the Northern Ireland Assembly laid before Parliament under section 15 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998

Some Northern Ireland Bills and Acts are subject to negative procedure. Section 15 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 provides for a period of 20 sitting days beginning with the day upon which the Bill or Act is laid before Parliament within which Members may give notice, as the case may be, that the Bill shall not be submitted for Royal Assent or that the Act of the Assembly shall cease to have effect. Twenty signatories are required for a motion to be effective.
