        Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time on Wednesday 17th May at Seven o'clock.
3Medway Council Bill [Lords],—The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Medway Council Bill [Lords];
 
        Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time on Wednesday 17th May at Seven o'clock.
4Mersey Tunnels Bill,—The Order of the day being read, for the Second Reading of the Mersey Tunnels Bill;
 
        Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time on Thursday 18th May.
5Common Agricultural Policy,—A Motion was made, and the Question being proposed, That this House takes note of European Union Document No. 6629/00, a Commission proposal on the prices for agricultural products (2000-01); supports the Government's intention to negotiate an outcome which takes account of the interest of UK producers, consumers and tax-payers alike; and also takes note and approves of the action which the Government has taken in partnership with the industry to launch the new Action Plan for Farming to ensure that British agriculture is more sustainable, dynamic and diverse, and more consumer- and market-orientated—(Mr Nicholas Brown);
 
        An Amendment was proposed to the Question, in line 3, to leave out from '(2000-01);' to the end of the Question and add the words 'deplores the failure of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food either to secure meaningful CAP reform on behalf of consumers, taxpayers, farmers and the environment, or to defend Britain's interests in other EU negotiations; condemns the false claims made about the value to farmers of the Action Plan for Farmers; notes the dramatic and continuing fall in agricultural employment and farm incomes; and calls on the Government to address with urgency the crisis in Britain's countryside', instead thereof.—(Mr Tim Yeo.)

6Section 5 of the European Communities (Amendment) Act 1993,—Ordered, That, for the purposes of their approval under section 5 of the European Communities (Amendment) Act 1993, the Financial Statement and Budget Report 2000-01 and the Economic and Fiscal Strategy Report 2000-01 shall be treated as if they were instruments subject to the provisions of Standing Order No. 118 (Standing Committees on Delegated Legislation).—(Mr Kevin Hughes.)
7Trade Union and Labour Relations,—Ordered, That, for the purposes of its approval under section 204 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992, the draft Code of Practice on Access to Workers during Recognition and Derecognition Ballots shall be treated as if it was an instrument subject to the provisions of Standing Order No. 118 (Standing Committees on Delegated Legislation).—(Mr Kevin Hughes.)
8Public Petitions,—A Public Petition from citizens of the United Kingdom for the award of a medal to every conscripted National Serviceman and the erection of a national monument to peace was presented and read; and ordered to lie upon the Table and to be printed.
