1    The Speaker's Absence,—The House being met, and the Speaker having leave of absence pursuant to paragraph (3) of Standing Order No. 3 (Deputy Speaker), Sylvia Heal, the First Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means, proceeded to the Table.

3    Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Bill,—The Order of the day being read for resuming the adjourned Debate on the Question proposed on Friday 10th March on consideration of the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Bill, as amended in the Standing Committee, That the Amendment (No. 7) be made,

    Which Amendment was, in page 2, line 20, at the end, to insert the words ', and after consultation with such public and private sector bodies as he considers appropriate'.

    Question again proposed, That the Amendment be made:—Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.

    Other Amendments (Nos. 36 to 40) made to the Bill.

    Another Amendment (No. 32) proposed to the Bill, in page 6, line 15, to leave out Clause No. 9.—(Mr Christopher Chope.)

    Another Amendment (No. 75) proposed to the Bill, in page 10, line 13, at the end, to insert the words—

    '(2A) In the exercise of his duty under subsection (1) the Secretary of State must consult—

      (a) such body or bodies as appear to him to be representative of local authorities;

      (b) such distributors and suppliers of electricity as he considers relevant; and

      (c) the Health and Safety Executive.'.—(Mr Eric Forth.)

    Title accordingly amended as follows: A Bill to make provision about the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases, the alleviation of fuel poverty, the promotion of microgeneration and the use of heat produced from renewable sources, compliance with building regulations relating to emissions of greenhouse gases and the use of fuel and power, the renewables obligation relating to the generation and supply of electricity and the adjustment of transmission charges for electricity; and for connected purposes.

    A Motion was made, and the Question being proposed, That the Bill be now read the third time;

    And it being half-past Two o'clock, the Debate stood adjourned.

    Ordered, That the Debate be resumed on Friday 12th May.
