The House met at half-past Ten o'clock.

1    The Speaker's Absence,—The House being met, the Clerk at the Table informed the House of the Speaker's absence from this day's sitting, pursuant to leave given [16th May].

    Whereupon Sir Alan Haselhurst, the Chairman of Ways and Means, proceeded to the Table.

PRAYERS.

2    The Chairman of Ways and Means took the Chair as Deputy Speaker, pursuant to the Standing Order.

3    NHS Redress Bill [Lords],—Miss Anne Begg reported from Standing Committee B, That it had gone through the NHS Redress Bill [Lords], and made Amendments thereunto.

    Bill, as amended in the Standing Committee, to be considered to-morrow; and to be printed [Bill 198].

4    Public Administration,—Ordered, That the Minutes of Proceedings of the Select Committee on Public Administration in this session of Parliament, together with the Minutes of Proceedings of any sub-committee which it may appoint, be laid upon the Table from time to time.

5    Regulatory Reform,—Ordered, That the Minutes of Proceedings of the Regulatory Reform Committee in this session of Parliament, together with the Minutes of Proceedings of any sub-committee which it may appoint, be laid upon the Table from time to time.

6    Statutory Instruments,—Ordered, That the Minutes of Proceedings of the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments in this session of Parliament, together with the Minutes of Proceedings of any sub-committee which it may appoint, be laid upon the Table from time to time.

7    Statutory Instruments,—Ordered, That the Minutes of Proceedings of the Select Committee on Statutory Instruments in this session of Parliament, together with the Minutes of Proceedings of any sub-committee which it may appoint, be laid upon the Table from time to time.

8    British Overseas Territories Bill,—The Order for reading the British Overseas Territories Bill a second time on Friday 16th June was read and discharged.

    Bill to be read a second time on Friday 14th July.

9    Criminal Law (Amendment) (Protection of Property) Bill,—The Order for resuming on Friday 16th June the adjourned Debate on the Question proposed on 2nd December, That the Criminal Law (Amendment) (Protection of Property) Bill be read a second time, was read and discharged.

    Debate to be resumed on Friday 14th July.

10    Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords],—The Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords] was, according to Order, read a second time.

11    Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords] (Programme),—A Motion was made, and the Question being put forthwith, pursuant to Standing Order No. 83A (Programme motions), That the following provisions shall apply to the Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords]:

Committal

    1. The Bill shall be committed to a Standing Committee.

    2. The proviso in paragraph (2)(ii) of Standing Order No. 86 (nomination of Standing Committee where a Bill relates exclusively to Wales) shall not apply to the Bill.

Proceedings in Standing Committee

    3. Proceedings in the Standing Committee shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion on 29th June 2006.

    4. The Standing Committee shall have leave to sit twice on the first day on which it meets.

Consideration and Third Reading

    5. Proceedings on consideration shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion one hour before the moment of interruption on the day on which those proceedings are commenced.

    6. Proceedings on Third Reading shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion at the moment of interruption on that day.

    7. Standing Order No. 83B (Programming committees) shall not apply to proceedings on consideration and Third Reading.

Other proceedings

    8. Any other proceedings on the Bill (including any proceedings on consideration of any Message from the Lords) may be programmed—(Mr Frank Roy):—It was agreed to.

12    Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords] [Money],—Her Majesty's Recommendation having been signified to the proposed Motion relating to Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords] [Money];

    A Motion was made, and the Question being put forthwith, pursuant to Standing Order No. 52 (Money resolutions and ways and means resolutions in connection with bills), That, for the purposes of any Act resulting from the Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [Lords], it is expedient to authorise the payment out of money provided by Parliament of any increase attributable to the Act in the sums payable out of money so provided under any other Act—(Mr Frank Roy):—It was agreed to.

13    Public Petition,—A Public Petition from supporters of St Leonards Hospital, Sudbury, Suffolk, against reductions in community hospital services was presented; and ordered to lie upon the Table and to be printed.

14    Adjournment,—Resolved, That this House do now adjourn.—(Mr Frank Roy.)

    And accordingly, the House, having continued to sit till sixteen minutes to Four o'clock, adjourned till to-morrow.
