SUPPLEMENT TO THE VOTES AND PROCEEDINGSPETITION FROM RESIDENTS OF CARADON DISTRICT, CORNWALL 25th June 2007 To the House of Commons. The Petition of the residents of Caradon District, Cornwall, Declares that we are concerned about the lack of consultation over proposed local government reorganisation in Cornwall. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urge the Minister for Local Government and Community Cohesion to consult with all Cornish residents to ask if they want a single Council for Cornwall under the South West Regional Assembly. And the Petitioners remain, etc. SUPPLEMENT TO THE VOTES AND PROCEEDINGSPETITION FROM CONSTITUENTS OF MERTHYR TYDFIL AND OTHERS 25th June 2007 To the House of Commons. The Petition of constituents of Merthyr Tydfil and others, Declares that residents of Merthyr Tydfil are currently not afforded the protection of a 500 metre buffer zone between the working face of opencast mining and homes and schools, despite numerous petitions over the past two years numbering 25,000 appealing for the inclusion in planning approvals of this buffer protectionno authority has taken the welfare of the people as a priority and awarded this safeguard. Further declares that against this background of political and bureaucratic intransigence the Petitioners respectfully beg the Mother of all Parliaments in Westminster to acknowledge the right of all Welsh residents to be afforded the "fair-minded" protection which other residents of the British Isles could expect, which is categorically the right to breathe clean air and have a clearly defined buffer zone protection distance of at least 500 metres. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Mr David Miliband, to use his powers to either reverse this planning decision affecting the Ffos Y Fran site at Merthyr Tydfil, which has failed to take sufficient note of public concern and outrage over toxic material being disturbed on this said site, and to ensure that any revised application would be bound by law to include a 500 metre buffer zone protection provision; or at this stage retrospectively, using his extensive discretionary powers, award the inclusion of a 500 metre buffer zone distance between this site specifically and homes and schools to prevent the disturbance of toxic waste; or insist, using his station, that the Welsh Assembly, with its devolved power, implements either of the above measures. And the Petitioners remain, etc. SUPPLEMENT TO THE VOTES AND PROCEEDINGSPETITION FROM PEOPLE LIVING AROUND THE ST. MARY'S CHURCH CONSERVATION AREA 25th June 2007 To the House of Commons. The Petition of people living around the St. Mary's Church Conservation Area, Declares that we the residents of Benfleet and surrounding areas object to the proposed demolition of the parade of shops opposite the historic St. Mary's Church, in High Road, Benfleet to make way for a new block of four shops with five one bed and eight two bed flats in a two storey development above the shops with underground parking, on the grounds that the access is unacceptable, there are insufficient parking arrangements, particularly for visitors to those new properties and shops, and consequently the shops and public will suffer, because the bulk of the proposed building would be unacceptably detrimental to the street scene in this sensitive position around the Conservation Area and because this would put unacceptable additional stress on the existing infrastructure at a sensitive point on the highway and for many other valid planning reasons as set out by the Member of Parliament and the previous Council members for the ward, in their objections to the earlier applications which were rejected. The Petitioners therefore call on the House of Commons to implore the Government to impress upon Castle Point Borough Council, and three Boyce Ward councillors in particular, the imperative that this application is decided by members rather than unelected unaccountable officers, and the need to reject the application on behalf of all residents of Castle Point who are sick to the back teeth of the attempts to overdevelop their community. And the Petitioners remain, etc. SUPPLEMENT TO THE VOTES AND PROCEEDINGSPETITION FROM RESIDENTS OF BROMLEY AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS AND VISITORS TO THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BROMLEY 27th June 2007 To the House of Commons. The Petition of residents of Bromley and the surrounding areas and visitors to the London Borough of Bromley, Declares that the Petitioners are extremely concerned by the Post Office Ltd. decision to close the East Street crown post office and relocate services to WH Smith and believe that this will lead to a greatly reduced service and result in serious access problems especially for the disabled and elderly. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons make clear to the Government and Post Office Ltd. the importance of the East Street Post Office to the local community and the benefit that it currently provides. And the Petitioners remain, etc.
