Mr. Hayward : To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list those contracts valued at over £10 million for which General Dynamics is currently tendering as prime contractor.

Contract Tendering
Mr. Hayward : To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make it his policy to ask companies tendering for contracts for information in relation to senior executives' emoluments.
Mr. Alan Clark : Our existing arrangements with industry are adequate in this regard.
Vacant Land
Mr. Steen : To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will set out in the Official Report the location of each site and its acreage of the unused and underused land held by his Department.
Mr. Archie Hamilton : The MOD register of unused and underused land in England is presently being updated. A list of sites included in the register as at 31 March 1990 is set out below. Many of these sites have now been sold or are in the process of disposal. I will provide the hon. Member with a revised list when available. Similar information for land held in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is not held centrally and could be provided only at a disproportionate cost.

Batus Range Accident
Mr. John Browne : To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether metal detectors were used as part of the range clearance or safety measures before Grenadier guardsmen Adrian Hicks, John Ray and Sean Povey were ordered to dig a trench in an impact area of the Batus live firing range in Canada on 7 July 1989.
Mr. Archie Hamilton : Metal detectors are not used as part of the range clearance measures at the Batus training area. The range covers some 2,630 sq km (1,000 sq mi) and it would be impractical to use detectors to sweep the area.
Mr. John Browne : To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will place in the Library a copy of the findings and of the summary findings of the board of

inquiry into the Batus range accident of 7 July 1989 involving Grenadier guardsmen Adrian Hicks, John Ray and Sean Povey.Mr. Archie Hamilton : I will arrange for a summary of the findings of the board of inquiry into this incident to be placed in the Library of the House.
Mr. John Browne : To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement outlining the reasons for his conclusion that no blame attached to anyone for the detonation of an unexploded shell that caused grievous injuries to Grenadier guardsmen Adrian Hicks, John Ray and Sean Povey.
Mr. Archie Hamilton : Legal advice was that it was not reasonably foreseeable that there should be a buried live munition at the spot where the trench was being dug and there was no blame attributable.
