Asylum Seekers
11.41 pm
Mr. Robert Maclennan (Caithness and Sutherland) : I wish to present a petition on behalf of 16,300 concerned members of the public, registering protest at the Government's proposals to restrict the rights of asylum seekers--the proposed abolition of legal aid for asylum seekers, the extension of the restriction on airline carriers, and the suggestion that asylum seekers be fingerprinted in a discriminatory fashion. The petition ends :
Wherefore your Petitioners pray that your Honourable House do not proceed with these unjust proposals. And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
To lie upon the Table.
