.-The Crown Prosecution Service shall be under a duty to (a) inform a complainant of the progress of the charge against the accused, of the dates of any court hearings, and of the outcome of any trial,
(b) consult the complainant about the nature of the charge to be brought against the accused, receive the views of the complainant about the level of the charge and, should the Crown Prosecution Service accept a lesser charge, inform the complainant in writing of the reasons for reducing the charge.'.-- [Mr. Michael.]

(1) Where an offender has been convicted of
(a) a sexual offence involving violence ;
(b) murder ;
(c) manslaughter ; or
(d) causing grievous bodily harm
