Mr. Hain: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will list the capital receipts from the sale of school playing fields for each of the last six years by education authority;
(2) if he will list the number of school playing fields by local education authority for (a) 1979, (b) 1983, (c) 1987, (d) 1992 and (e) the latest available date.

Dr. Strang: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total number of reported cases of salmonellosis in Scotland in each year since 1979; and what is the latest available figure for this year.
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton: The total numbers of cases of salmonella infection reported by laboratories to the Scottish centre for infection and environmental health are as follows. These figures do not necessarily reflect the total incidence of the infection in the community, since doctors do not routinely send specimens from every case for laboratory confirmation.

Dr. Strang: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the latest figure for the number of cases of food poisoning reported in Scotland in 1994.
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton: A total of 3,380 cases of food poisoning were reported in Scotland during the period 1 January to 14 October 1994.
Mr. Wallace: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has on the number of patients from (a) Orkney and (b) Shetland who have travelled to Aberdeen for medical appointments at the Aberdeen Royal Hospitals trust or the Grampian Health Care trust, and have been returned home without the appointment having taken place, in each year since 1 April 1992, and from 1 April 1994 to 30 September 1994.
Mr. Lang: This information is not held centrally. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind, I suggest he takes it up direct with the relevant health board.

Mr. Donohoe: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many calls have been made to the NHS helpline for each month since its establishment; and how much the Scottish Office has spent in establishing, publicising and administering the helpline.
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton: The cost of setting up the NHS helpline was £72,401. Since it became operational in October 1992, expenditure on administration of the service totals £303,585 and expenditure on publicity totals £108,241. The total number of calls, both interactive and non-interactive, received each month by the NHS helpline since it came into operation is as follows:

Mr. Donohoe: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what measures the Scottish Office has taken to recruit the chairmen and senior management of the proposed water and sewerage boards.
Mr. Stewart: Normal procedures for appointments to public bodies are being followed. Executive search consultants have been contracted to assist in the recruitment of chief executives. Additionally, invitations have been issued to Confederation of British Industry, Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, National Farmers Union of Scotland, Scottish Consumer Council, Scottish Landowners Federation, and Scottish Trades Union Congress to offer suggestions for appointments to the membership of the new authorities. Suggestions from these organisations, and others, are now being considered.
Mr. Donohoe: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland which private companies the Scottish Office has engaged to advise or assist in the recruitment of the chairmen and senior management of the proposed water and sewerage boards.
Mr. Stewart: Andrew Rait Ltd. executive search consultants, has been appointed to assist in the search for the chief executives of the three water authorities.
Mr. Donohoe: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what guidelines have been issued to health boards concerning the monitoring of standards within nursing homes.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton: The Scottish Office issued four sets of model guidelines between October 1989 and December 1993 covering the needs of specific client groups. The model guidelines and date of publication, are listed and copies have been placed in the Library of the House:
Model Guidelines for the Registration and Inspection of Nursing Homes for the Elderly (October 1989)
Model Guidelines for the Registration and Inspection of Independent Hospitals and Nursing Homes Providing Acute Services (March 1992)
Model Guidelines for the Registration and Inspection of Nursing Homes Providing Care and Treatment for People With a Learning Disability (December 1993)
Model Guidelines for the Registration and Inspection of Nursing Homes Providing Continuing Care and Treatment for People with Dementia (December 1993).
In addition to the above sets of model guidelines, a document setting out national standards for the registration and inspection of nursing homes in Scotland is currently being produced for publication next year.
