Grant-maintained Status (Ballots)

Mr. Blunkett: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment in respect of which cases of schools holding ballots on grant-maintained status her Department has investigated complaints about the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the ballot; and if she will indicate for each (a) how many complaints were received, (b) the nature of the complaints, (c) the outcome of the investigation and (d) what action has been taken. School Inspections

Ms Estelle Morris: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, pursuant to her answer of 28 February, Official Report, column 602, what statistics her Department collates on the number of lay inspectors who have undertaken inspections in the last five years. [21134]

Mr. Jamieson: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and employment how many independent schools have had a full Office for Standards in Eduction inspection in each year since 1993-94; and how many she expects to take place in 1996-97 and 1997-98. [21156]

Mr. Robin Squire: This is a matter for Her Majesty's chief inspector of schools, who heads the Office of Standards in Education. I have asked Mr. Chris Woodhead to write to the hon. Members.

Delegated Schools Budget

Mr. Blunkett: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will instigate a further consultation exercise on extending the delegated schools budgets beyond 85 per cent. of the potential schools budget. [21085]

Mr. Robin Squire: I have no immediate plans to do so.

Teachers' Pay and Conditions

Mr. Blunkett: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many local education authority maintained schools fall into each of the schoolteachers' pay and conditions groups 1 to 6; and in each case how many of the head teachers' salaries fall into each pay spine point in the scale in the last year for which figures are available. [21057]

Mr. Robin Squire: The following table shows the head teachers, in the local education authority maintained nursery, primary and secondary sector in England and Wales, identified in the Teachers Pensions Agency database of teachers, records on a spine point of at least the minimum for the appropriate school group.
