Air Travel (Staff)

Mrs. Dunwoody: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate his Department has made of the number of people employed by (a) airlines and (b) airports in the United Kingdom. [39509]

Mr. Bowis: Statistics on employment in air transport in the UK can be found in "Transport Statistics Great Britain 1995", table 1.26.

Disabled Passengers

Mrs. Dunwoody: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will encourage United Kingdom airports to spread charges for handling of disabled passengers across all passengers. [39506]

Mr. Bowis: This is a commercial matter for aiports and airlines to decide.

Air Accidents Investigation Branch Report

Mrs. Dunwoody: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he intends to publish the air accidents investigation branch report into the engine failure suffered by a Boeing 737, registration No. G-OBMM in 1995. [39369]

Commercial Airlines (Revenue)

Mrs. Dunwoody: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list the total revenues received by the Civil Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic Services from commercial airlines for the most recent year for which data are available. [39462]

Mr. Bowis: The CAA has assessed that, in 1995-96 £464.4 million was received, of which £428.3 million was received by NATS.

Roadside Checks

Mrs. Dunwoody: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (a) how many roadside spot checks are planned to be undertaken in Scotland by Vehicle Inspectorate officers during 1996-97; [38209]

Mr. Bowis: I have asked the chief executive of the Vehicle Inspectorate to write to the hon. Member.

Bypasses and Service Stations
