Mr. Bayley: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much the NHS spent on beta-interferon in the first six months of (a) 1996-97 and (b) 1995-96. [2329]
Mr. Malone: Information on the net ingredient cost of all beta-interferon products dispensed in the community in England is shown in the list. Information on the cost of drugs dispensed in hospital pharmacies is not available centrally.
Mr. Maclennan: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what research his Department has supported on childhood leukaemia by ensuring that the national database of childhood leukaemia held by the childhood cancer research group remains open; and what plans he has for future funding. [2332]

Mr. Horam: The Department of Health supports the childhood cancer research group. A new contract has been placed to run from 1 January 1996 to 31 December 2000 to a value of £350,000 per year. One of the main objectives of the core-funded programme is the development and management of the national registry of childhood tumours, which includes virtually all cases of cancer and leukaemia in children aged 0 to 14 in Great Britain.

Mr. Bayley: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list in cash terms the baseline allocation figures for each English health authority which have been circulated to finance directors for comment. [2328]
Mr. Horam: A table showing the health authority recurrent baselines will be placed in the Library. These have been circulated to health authorities for validation and may therefore be subject to amendment.
