PRIME MINISTER

Union Flag and Royal Standard

Mr. Wigley: To ask the Prime Minister what plans he has for Wales to be represented on (a) the Union flag and (b) the royal standard. [2188]

The Prime Minister: The Union flag is representative of all parts of the United Kingdom. Wales, as an integral part of the United Kingdom, is therefore represented by the Union flag. Similarly, the royal standard representing the sovereign of the United Kingdom applies to Wales as much as to every other part of the Union.

SOCIAL SECURITY

Incapacity Benefit

Mr. Foulkes: To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what guidance is given to doctors by the Benefits Agency medical services regarding the conduct of all work tests for incapacity benefit; what is the time estimated for each test; what medical examinations, tests or procedures are undertaken during the test; what account is taken of (a) general practitioners' and (b) consultants' reports as part of the test; and what monitoring is undertaken of the doctors who carry out the tests. Mr. Burt: The administration of incapacity benefit is a matter for Peter Mathison, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to the hon. Member.

Mr. Mitchell: Eleven representations have been received from hon. Members between November 1995 and 17 October 1996.
