on how often they should check variations in their spending patterns so that they reflect variations in assessed need. [8217]
Mr. Horam: Health authorities are expected to develop and review purchasing plans to reflect the needs of their local populations within the national context set out in the NHS priorities and planning guidance. These plans are subject to public consultation before being agreed in corporate contracts with NHS executive regional offices.
