TO

Amend the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 to exempt persons who have attained the age of 75 from paying the fee for certain wireless telegraphy licences; to make provision with respect to the funding of the BBC; and for connected purposes.

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
 

Amendment of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949.     1. - (1) The Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 shall be amended as follows.
 
      (2) In section 2 (fees and charges for wireless telegraphy licences) after subsection (2) there shall be inserted:-
 
 
    "(2A) Notwithstanding anything in subsection (1) of this section, where upon an application made by a person normally resident in the United Kingdom for the issue or renewal of a licence to install or use apparatus not designed for emission (as opposed to reception), the BBC is satisfied that the applicant has attained the age of 75 the BBC shall dispense with the whole of any sum which would otherwise be payable on the issue or renewal of a licence."
