  INTERPRETATION
     1. References in this Schedule to any enactment-
 
 
    (a) are to be read as references to that enactment as it has effect on the principal appointed day or, if it ceased to have effect on an earlier day, as it had effect immediately before that earlier day, and
 
    (b) include references to that enactment as amended, but do not include references to that enactment as extended or applied, by any other enactment.
     2. Paragraph 1 is subject to any express provision to the contrary.
