SUPPLEMENTARY PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE HAIRDRESSING COUNCIL |
| | 5. The Hairdressing Council shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal.
|
| | 6. The members of the Council shall be appointed within six months of this Act coming into force.
|
| | 7. The term of office of the members of the Council shall be four years.
|
| | 8. Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph 3 of this Schedule, a member of the hairdressing Council may, at any time, resign his membership by advising the Registrar in writing.
|
| | 9. The Council shall elect, each year, a Chairman from among its members who shall hold office for twelve months.
|
| | 10. - (1) The Council shall have power to do anything which in their opinion is calculated to facilitate the proper discharge of their functions.
|
| |
(2) The Council shall, in particular, have power-
|
| |
(a) to appoint, in addition to a registrar, such officers and servants as the Council may determine; |
| |
(b) to pay to the Registrar and such other employees of Council as they may determine, such pensions and gratuities, or provide and maintain for them such superannuation schemes as the Council may determine; and |
| |
(b) to pay to members of the Council or their committees such fees for attendance at meetings of the Council or their committees and such travelling and subsistence allowances while attending such meetings or while on other business of the Council as the Council may determine. |

(3) The powers of the Council may be exercised notwithstanding any vacancy, and no proceedings of the Council shall be invalidated by any defect in the appointment of a member.

| | 11. - (1) The Registrar of the Council shall, each year, convene an Annual Meeting of the Council.
|
| |
(2) The Registrar of the Council shall, each year, convene an Annual Open Meeting of all persons registered under this Act.
|
| | 12. The Council shall make regulations, to be known as the Standing Orders, governing the proceedings at and conduct of meetings and in particular the notice to be given of and business to be conducted at the meetings referred to in sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) of paragraph 11 of this Schedule.

| | 13. The quorum of the Council shall be one third of the number of its members, allowing for any vacancy which may, from time to time, arise; and in calculating the quorum, fractions shall be counted as one.
