B I L L TO End the differential treatment of war widows and war disablement pensioners by local authorities; and for connected purposes. BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- | |||||||||
Disregard of war pensions by all local authorities. | 1. When assessing any person for entitlement to council tax benefit or housing benefit, local authorities shall disregard any war disablement and war widows' pensions paid under the terms of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme. | ||||||||
Short title and extent. | 2. - (1) This Act may be cited as the War Widows and Pensioners (Equal Treatment) Act 1998. | ||||||||
(2) . This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland. |
