Tuition Fees

Mr. Opik: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will estimate the gross cost of setting up mechanisms for the means testing of citizens of other EU member states to assess their eligibility to pay tuition fees. [27716]

Farm Incomes

Mr. Alan W. Williams: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his answer of 2 February 1998, Official Report, column 532, what information he has collated on the net annual income for farmers in Wales during (a) 1996-97 and (b) the current financial year. [28284]

Mr. Win Griffiths [holding answer 6 February 1998]: The information requested is currently being collated, and will be published in a Statistical Release on Thursday 12 February 1998. I will write to my hon. Friend enclosing a copy of the Release and will also arrange for copies to be placed in the Library of the House.

Publications

Mr. Gale: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list by title the publications produced by his Department between 1 May 1997 and 31 January 1998. [26333]

Mr. Ron Davies: Between 1 May and 31 January 1998, the Welsh Office published 831 titles and the Office of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales, 747.

A list of the publications will be placed in the Library of the House as soon as possible.

Local Government Finance

Mr. Gareth Thomas: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what are his plans for local government revenue spending for 1998-99. [28981]

Mr. Ron Davies: Further to my announcement on 2 February, I am laying the Local Government Finance Report (Wales) 1998-99 (revised) with the Limitation of Council Tax (Relevant Notional Amounts) Report (Wales) 1998-99 (revised) today. These revised reports replace those two reports laid before the House on 2 February which have been withdrawn due to a small error in the calculation of the standard spending assessments. The Special Grant Report (No. 2) (Wales) 1998 has not been revised.

I am placing revised settlement details for individual local authorities in the Library of the House. The details for individual police authorities and the settlement aggregates have not changed. My decisions are subject to the approval of the House of Commons.

Crickhowell House

Mr. Wigley: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what rent his Department is currently paying to Associated British Ports for Crickhowell House in Cardiff; what is the length of the lease; and what are the break-points in the lease. [28339]

Mr. Ron Davies: For reasons of commercial confidentiality it is Government policy not to disclose information about rent levels for individual properties. The lease runs for 25 years from 31 August 1993 with no break provision.

National Assembly

Mr. Wigley: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if those who made bids for the location of the National Assembly will be permitted to amend the detailed bids submitted; and if he will make a statement. [28340]

Mr. Ron Davies: It is open to those who made bids to amend the details as they see fit, but I expect to make a decision shortly.

Mr. Wigley: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will (a) publish and (b) place in the Library the full details of the bids received for the location of the National Assembly. [28341]

Mr. Ron Davies: I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave my right hon. Friend the Member for Swansea, West (Mr. Williams) on 3 February 1998, Official Report column 606.
