NEW OBJECTIVES
AND TRANSITIONAL
ARRANGEMENTS1
New Objective 1—funded for six years to
2006.
Transitional Objective 1—areas no longer
eligible for Objective 1 status will receive transitional aid
to December 2005, or additional assistance to 2006 if they do
not qualify for new Objective 2.
New Objective 2—funded through to 2006.
Transitional Objective 5b—areas no longer
eligible will have transitional funding to December 2003.
New EAGGF Rural Development Measures—seven
year programmes to be available across Member States.
LEADER 2—it is unclear how or whether
existing LEADER 2 projects will be phased out.
LEADER 3—targeting criteria are not yet
known.
New Objective 3—it is unclear how or whether
Objective 3 initiatives may be targeted at rural areas.
