Letter from the Department of Trade and Industry to
the Clerk of the Committee
I do of course accept the Committee's two recommendations that
the written representations procedure should be amended to give
applicants the same rights as objectors and that the Secretary
of State should retain authority for the diversion of pipes not
yet constructed. I will ask my lawyer to amend the draft Order
once the Committee has formally reported and lay the amended version
for the final scrutiny.
