Annual Report 1998—Chapter 8, paragraphs 8.39-8.41; table A12

There is a significant reduction in provision for 1998-99 from 1996-97 and 1997-98. This is mainly due to the introduction on 1 April 1998 of a fee payable on the first registration of a vehicle; the introduction of photographs on driving licences from the summer of 1998; and the appropriation of the cost element of sale of marks, assignments and Cherished Transfer transactions, which were previously treated as Consolidated Fund Extra Receipts.
