FCE/Hospital Spell Ratio
7. The latest information on FCE/hospital spell ratios
by region and nationally is given in the table below. Admissions
within the year have been used as a proxy for spells. These figures
supersede and update those provided last year and are based on
an analysis of the HES data which has now been subjected to a
number of cleaning procedures which are designed to correct obvious
coding errors. All of the figures presented for 1996-97 should
be treated as provisional. Changes are likely to be made prior
to final publication (a copy of the publication Hospital Episode
Statistics containing these revisions will be deposited in
the House of Commons library in due course. A version on CD rom
will be available first).
