  The Committee deliberated.

  Mr J. Breckenridge, Assistant Treasury Officer of Accounts, was further examined.

  The Comptroller and Auditor General's report on HM Customs and Excise: the Seizure of Drug Traffickers' Assets (HC 668) was considered.

  Mrs V P M Strachan, CB, Chairman, and Mr M J Eland, Commissioner and Director Customs Policy, HM Customs and Excise, were examined (HC 384-i).

  Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph by paragraph.

  Paragraph 1 read and agreed to.

  Paragraph 2 postponed.

  Paragraph 3 to 29 read and agreed to.

  Postponed paragraph 2 read and agreed to.

  Resolved, That the Report, as amended, be the Fourteenth Report of the Committee to the House.

  Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

  Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134 (Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.
