Sir John Bourn, KCB, Comptroller and Auditor General, was further examined.

The Committee deliberated.

Mrs Angela Hands, Director, the National Audit Office, was examined.

Mr Frank Martin, Second Treasury Officer of Accounts, was examined.

The Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the Management of Sickness Absence in the Metropolitan Police Service (HC 413) was considered.

Mr David Omand, Permanent Under-Secretary of State, the Home Office, and Sir Paul Condon, QPM, Commissioner of the Metropolis, The Metropolitan Police Service were further examined (HC 594-i).
