NOTES

  1. There has been some movement between R&D and other functions—this has not been taken into acount, but would not skew the overall figures.

  2. Clinical Data Management staff have been included within the scientific grouping, though many in the function are engaged in data entry. Total numbers for Clinical Data Management are given above in parentheses.

  3. Because of the way figures were reported it has not been possible to isolate secretarial support staff from the total numbers reported as scientific. Using the current proportion of secretarial staff to total numbers of staff, an approximation of the number of secretarial staff included in the scientific figure is also shown in parentheses.
