TAX AND BENEFITS: PRE-BUDGET REPORT

THE GOVERNMENT RESPONSE TO THE COMMITTEE'S THIRD REPORT OF SESSION 1997-98

1.  The Committee's Third Report of Session 1997-98, on Tax and Benefits: Pre-Budget Report, was agreed to by the Committee on 4 March 1998 and published on 11 March as House of Commons Paper No. 423.

2.  We have now received in the form of a letter from the Chancellor of the Exchequer the Government's response to the Report, which is printed as an Appendix to this Special Report.
