WITNESS STATEMENT OF PHILIP LESLIE BROMFIELD
I, Philip Leslie Bromfield, of *** Sidcup,
Kent DA14 4NF, will say as follows:
1. I am a security
officer and have been employed by Mr Mohamed Al-Fayed since 1983.
I am chiefly responsible for house security and, in that capacity,
tend the front desk at the entrance to 60 Park Lane, a building
that serves as an office and residence for Mr Al-Fayed, among
others. While at the front desk., I control all access and entry
to the front of the building.
2. While tending the front desk, I would see
Mr Neil Hamilton, MP, enter the building. On each occasion Mr
Hamilton appeared, he would announce himself and ask to see Mr
Al-Fayed.
3. On at least two occasions when I was sitting
at the front desk, an envelope was brought down to me from Mr
Al-Fayed's office and I was informed that Mr Hamilton would be
stopping by to collect the envelope. On each of these occasions,
Mr Hamilton personally came to the front desk, and told me his
name and then asked me if I had an envelope for him. Because
I recognised Mr Hamilton, I would hand over the envelope to him.
4. Mr Ian Greer also appeared at the front desk
occasionally asking for an envelope. Mr Greer had come to the
building on numerous occasions and I also would recognise him.
On those occasions I would hand over to Mr Greer the envelope
that I had been given for his collection.
5. I confirm that the contents of this statement
are true to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.
