NEW CLAUSESAbolition of emergency treatment fee

NC1 To move the following Clause:'.Section 158 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (Payment for emergency treatment of traffic casualties) shall cease to have effect.'.
Duty of insurers to submit annual report to Parliament
Mr Paddy Ashdown NC2 To move the following Clause:'It shall be the duty of any person liable to pay a charge to the Secretary of State under section 1 to submit by 30th June in each year following the passing of this Act a report to each House of Parliament, stating in respect of the preceding calendar year
Secretary of State's report on payments made under the Act
Miss Ann Widdecombe NC3 *To move the following Clause:'.The Secretary of State shall submit a report to each House of Parliament by 30th June in each year following the passing of this Act stating in respect of the preceding financial year the total of any payments made to him under the provisions of this Act.'.
Mr Paddy Ashdown 1 Page 3, line 28 [Clause 2], at end insert'(13) Any certificate issued under this section shall also be supplied to the traffic casualty or, if the traffic casualty has died, his personal representative.'.
Mr Paddy Ashdown 2 Page 3, line 43 [Clause 3], leave out '2nd July 1997' and insert '1st April 1998'.
Mr Paddy Ashdown 3 Page 4, line 10 [Clause 3], at end insert'(7) The Secretary of State shall lay before Parliament every two years a report of a review of the amount or amounts to be specified in regulations under subsection (2) above and of the basis of the relevant cost calculations.'.
