B I L L TO Make hare coursing illegal. BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- | |||||||||||||
| Hare coursing to be illegal. | 1. If any person causes, procures or assists at, or knowingly permits or suffers any place to be used for, the coursing of a hare by any dog, he shall be guilty of an offence. | ||||||||||||
| Penalties. | 2. Any person guilty of an offence under this Act shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months, or to both. | ||||||||||||
| Disqualification from ownership or custody of dog. | 3. The court before whom any person is convicted of an offence under this Act may order his disqualification from ownership or custody of any dog for such period as the court sees fit. | ||||||||||||
| Short title, commencement and extent. | 4. - (1) This Act may be cited as the Hare Coursing Act 1999. | ||||||||||||
| (2) This Act shall come into force on the expiry of one month beginning with the date of its passing. | |||||||||||||
| (3) This Act shall not extend to Northern Ireland. | |||||||||||||
