1.Concessionary television licence entitlement for pensioner-only households.

Extend the concessionary television licence entitlement to all pensioners living in households consisting only of pensioners; and for connected purposes.

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
 

Concessionary television licence entitlement for pensioner-only households.     1. - (1) Schedule 2 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Television Licence Fees) Regulations 1997 (issue fees for television licences) is amended as follows.
 
      (2) In Part I (fees) after entry 2 insert-
 
 
 

2A. Television licence (including colour) Pensioner-only Household General Form
 

A licence-
(i) to install and use television receivers at the single place specified in the licence, being a dwelling, vehicle, vessel or caravan which is used as the main residence of a household consisting only of persons eligible to receive the state retirement pension ("the specified location");
(ii) to install and use television receivers in any vehicle, vessel or caravan being used or occupied by the licensee or by a person normally living with the licensee at the specified location, being installation or use not covered by a licence described in item 6 below, provided that a receiver may not be used in a caravan, other than a touring caravan, at the same time as a receiver is being used at the specified location; and
(iii) for the use anywhere of any television receiver powered solely by its own internal batteries by the licensee or by a person normally living with the licensee at the specified location.

Short title.     2. This Act may be cited as the Concessionary Television Licences for Pensioners Act 1999.
