Allow persons ordained and ministers of any religious denomination to be Members of the House of Commons.
BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
Qualification of persons ordained and ministers of religion for membership of the House of Commons.
1. A person is not disqualified from being a Member of the House of Commons because he has been ordained or is a minister of any religious denomination.
Repeals.
2. The Schedule (repeals) shall have effect.
Short title and commencement.
3. - (1) This Act may be cited as the House of Commons Disqualification (Amendment) Act 1999.
(2) This Act shall come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order appoint.
