ERRATA TO THE 1997 ANNUAL REPORT ON STRATEGIC
EXPORT CONTROLS
Information on Standard Individual Export Licences
In addition to the errata identified previously,
details of one application refused were unintentionally omitted
from the Report. Consequently, the number of applications for
standard individual export licences refused during the reporting
period, given on page 20 of the Report, should read "57";
there was also an error in the description of the military equipment
covered by two licences.
CHANNEL ISLANDS
The description "vintage machine guns"
should read "vintage machine gun part".
INDIA
Total No. of SIELs refused should read "11",
the rating of the goods covered by the application omitted from
the Report was "End use".
SRI LANKA
The military equipment covered by one of the
licences rated ML7 was omitted from the Report and "NBC respirators"
should be added.

Information on Standard Individual Export Licences
Five applications refused during before 1 January
1998 were wrongly included in the 1998 Report. Consequently, the
number of applications for standard individual export licences
refused during the reporting period, given on page 8 should read
"117" and not 122.
Two licences were wrongly described in the Report
as having been revoked. Consequently, the number of applications
for standard individual export licences revoked during the period,
given on page 8 should read "5" and not 6, and the number
of standard individual transhipment licences revoked during the
period should read "0" and not "1".
The information on two applications refused
during the period was shown incorrectly:
one application was recorded against
the wrong country;
one application was described as
covering goods controlled under the wrong rating.
The information on four licences issued during
the period was shown incorrectly:
two licences were recorded against
the wrong country;
the wrong description was given of
the military equipment covered by two licences.

equipment" should read "night vision goggles".

Information on Open Individual Export
Licences
As a result of a clerical error at the stage
of compiling the data for publication in the Report, there were
errors in two Tables in the Report. The name of one destination"Portugal"
was omitted from Table 2B on page 104 of the Report. In addition
some of the countries excluded from the destination of one of
the OIELs amended during the period to exclude particular destinations,
and the rating of the goods covered by that licence were omitted
from Table 5 on page 121 of the Report. A corrected version of
this Table is given below.
