Select Committee on Northern Ireland Affairs Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 10

Memorandum submitted by NORWEB Distribution

You asked us to provide you with information on restoration times and levels of payment that were made by way of compensation. Please find attached a table showing the number of customers off supply each day during the emergency and the speed of restoration.

As far as level of compensation is concerned, we dealt with this under our Guaranteed Standard arrangements. This means that for any customer being off supply for more than 24 hours a payment of £50 was made to domestic customers or £100 to business customers. For each additional 12 hour period customers were without supply, a further £25 was paid. To receive payment, customers had to lodge a claim within one month of the date supply was restored.
