APPENDIX 29
Letter from the Clerk of the Administration
Committee to the Clerk of the Procedure Committee
ACCESS BY
MEMBERS OF
DEVOLVED LEGISLATURES
Thank you for your letter of 24 February, which
was considered by the Administration Committee at its meeting
on 23 March.
I wish to advise you that it was the Committee's
initial and, it has to be said, unanimous view that only those
Members representing the whole of the United Kingdom, i.e., Members
of this House and UK Members of the European Parliament, should
be permitted access to the House of Commons and the use of its
facilities.
However, the Committee has deferred taking a
final decision until after the elections to the Scottish Parliament
and to the National Assembly for Wales, and knowing what reciprocal
arrangements are proposed for Westminster Members by those bodies
and by the Northern Ireland Assembly.
